Myths & Misconceptions about Fitness!

You are indeed the “Superstar” of the story of your life! Its your right to look the best of your potential! The big question is do you really know what your true potential is? Have you pushed yourself enough to know your Best Self both physically and mentally!

Till then gym and diet will always be just one lousy part of your daily/monthly/ annual schedule, which you will dread to do, almost always. Loads of people I know are members with atleast 2–3 health clubs but visit the place about twice a year. Its like being an “angel investor” for gyms and health clubs. They just want to finance them annually and probably visit them once or twice a year to check if everything is in order, are the facilities functioning well, are the trainers good, do they recognise them after long intervals of absence, and with no returns on their health or physical fitness! :) Some times its just a good psychological feeling, a style/ status statement to be a Health Club Member, which is great (whatever works!) you must engage your mind like I said, but then compliment that with discipline, dedication, commitment and consistency! Its not the gym, not the trainers, its you and you alone who can make this work for you, step by step, there’s no hurry, just set realistic goals and keep at it. There is no finish line, Its a Lifestyle, REMEMBER! A legacy of healthy living you will pass onto generations!

Beware of the “energy drainers” or in “Harry Potter terminology, Fitness Dementors” :) who are secretly lazy people, they hate the prospect of working out hence if they see someone working out in a dedicated fashion they will try every way and means to discourage them by saying “oh you look really thin and frail are you unwell or you will really hurt your knees or injure your back my friend be careful, look at me (by which time he will proudly exhibit his version of the sign of prosperitybeer belly”, “double chin” and “love handles” taking the term oh so literally) I am so ‘healthy’, I don’t need to workout, just eat, drink, sleep and laugh, make merry and repeat (an angioplasty once in while and loads of medical bills and I love my doctors!!) and life couldn’t be better!! :) ” Whatever happened to the term Prevention is better than Cure?

And then there are those who will ask you “are you working out to compete for a marathon or an athletic meet, or are you joining showbiz,” So my take on the matter then would be that only athletes and celebrities need to look fit and good, the rest of us folks can prepare for an early retirement and very well keep our obituaries ready just incase! :) I’m sure a lot of you have heard these before, “oh I’m middle aged, married, with kids who do I have to show or impress with a good physique” (as long as you are breathing, you are living and I say Live To Your Optimum Best!) Or, “oh physical appearance is so overrated, its the brains alone that will help you get to phenomenal heights” True to an extent! but don’t you also want to look the part?Wouldn’t it be just fantastic to have the smarts, the physique and the perfect look to go with the Brains! For marketing yourself don’t you want a fantastic, stunning package too! People like to meet other positive people. People like to meet people who are fit and who respect and invest in themselves because the dedication and commitment is a part of who they really are and whatever they do in life! Fitness is not just going to the gym or eating right, it defines your mental frame of mind with discipline, commitment, positivity, dedication, consistency and that rubs off on all other aspects of your life; work, family and friends.

You could be a Banker, Entrepreneur, Home Administrator, Salesperson, Professor, Back Office Personnel, Celebrity, Politician, a CEO or an Executive, anyone, its your right to look your Very Best, Be Fit and Be Strong at every stage of Your Beautiful Long Fulfilling Life on this Earth and DON’T LET ANYONE TELL YOU ANY DIFFERENT! :)
