In basic, Ultrapure water would be the water which has been generated or produced through panel of technologies and gives you highest acceptable quality of water viz. 18.2mega ohm, on the other hand, Distilled water is generated by boiling the water in a still glass assembly. When it says it’s a panel of technology which produces Ultra-pure water, it is the combination of Reverse osmosis, activated carbon, ion exchanger etc. which gives a lot of consistency to the water quality.

Distillation Technique

Monitoring is a very important aspect which comes in the purview as it is very important to know what kind of water is being produced from the technology as it is in this case we are comparing the Ultrapure water production technology vs distillation technique. Any ultrapure water production unit has the conductivity and organic monitoring mechanism (TOC monitor) whereas the distillation assembly has any monitoring mechanism in existence which essentially means that end user may not be aware what quality of water is been used for his/her applications inside the laboratory.

Ultrapure Water Purification Process

There are some very important applications which needs pyrogen free water or water almost free from organics or elemental free from water and this is exactly where the distilled water cannot be the solution as it cannot exchange ions/elements or remove organics out of the water due to its limitation of boiling only capability. One the other hand due to combination of purification technology which produces ultra-pure water has the capability to remove almost all the contaminants we mentioned above.

Cost is another important factor which makes the end user think that conservative distillation technology is more acceptable due to not reported any harms from the distilled water. We have very clearly mentioned above that what are the limitation of distilled water in terms of its incapability. We can conveniently conclude here that distilled water is water which has no assurance of quality due to the way it gets produced whereas Ultrapure water is well monitored at the different steps of purification technologies with the utmost acceptable quality.
