He BETTER have my bail money!!!
I have been just dying to tell you this story…
So the other day I watched that show called “TABOO”
Apparently there’s a group of people in society who dumpster dive for food, but not because they are poor. It’s a political statement against wastefulness. (The video above is close enough so you get the idea. I couldn’t find the other one online)
OK, I can understand that: saving the planet 👏👏👏
Besides, dumpster diving for food which is wrapped or still sealed in a box may not be visually appealing, but hopefully, it’s not contaminated.
But NOOOOO! This dude took it to a whole Nother level.
He would get in his car and drive up and down a highway that was next to the forest, picking up roadkill. See, the animals would run onto the road and be hit by cars. This man decided that that was just too much protein going to waste.
OKAAAAYYYY it’s his body, he had been doing it for the last three years, so all right…
But did he stop there? Again, NOOOOO!!!!
I could not believe my eyes!!!!!
He invited his friends over and served them road kill for dinner!!! If he did that to me…I would not be responsible for my actions afterwards.
Or maybe I’m having too strong of a reaction?
Would YOU be cool if someone invited you for dinner and served really nice spicy “curry”, then AFTER {AFTER!!!!!} you’re done eating confessed to you, “Oh, by the way, that meat that you just ate, that is actually a possum that I found which had been lying by the side of the road for two days and was turning green and full of maggots!!”
So the spice was supposably to mask the taste of the meat being “ripe”??????
And then sit there feeling really smug chewing his toothpick????
Help me Lord.
Madness.
It occurred to me that’s the same thing happening in podcasting…now that information is fairly democratized, practically anyone can start a blog, website or podcast.
Some people offering editing services be dishing up roadkill, y’all!
They offer to do editing at a price that makes you wonder how they can honestly afford to do it for so cheap. First of all, editing is something that takes LOTS of TIME to do correctly, if they’re charging a minuscule amount to do work that takes AT LEAST four hours you gotta wonder.
Now you don’t have to go the Ritz Carlton to get great service, but daaaaaaayymn!!!!!! You really want a professional handling your message.
When you put your podcast out in the world, it’s a reflection on you. Email me at mercykay@me.com if you would like a referral to a professional editor, no roadkill here.
For tomorrow, we’ll discuss how you can be a hero you’ve always wanted to be & save the world and no, you don’t need Bill Gates’ wallet.
SMH,
Mercy
