The end of 2013 is almost here! Are you ready to make a list of good intentions that you’ll probably forget after the 2nd week? There’s a different way of setting intentions that has proven to be far more effective. It’s reflecting and looking forward at the same time, making your intentions come alive. And when your brain believes it, it’s as good as reality.
It has become our family tradition to write a letter to ourselves at the end of the year. It’s a letter reflecting back on the year: looking back on what the year has brought us. Did we manifest what we set out to make real at the beginning of the year?
The letter we write is not about the past year though! It’s about the upcoming year. This year I’ll be writing myself a letter back from the future. Dated December 31st 2014 I’ll be writing myself about all the things I’ve achieved in 2014. All the fun I had, the hardships I’ve overcome, the things I’ve learned and the personal development I went through. Some of it will be very detailed, like the courses I took, the things I worked on in my relationships with my loved ones, friends, family, my work and myself. Some of it will be less detailed but all of my intentions will be in it.
The reason we do this is to create the lives we want to live! Thinking, talking and writing about our positive intentions, dreams and goals will activate our brains in such a way that it opens us up to new possibilities. Writing it in past tense (we are writing the letter back from the future after all) will help our brain be more detailed and that will make it much easier to make it become reality.
We write our letters together. We write them, all sitting at the kitchen table, sharing the moment via skype so we still feel connected. After writing the letter the time has come to read them out loud. Yes, we share them: this way we create a support team to support us to manifest into our lives that what we wish for most!
Writing a letter this way will enhance your chance to create what you want in your life big time. Professional athletes visualize every detail of their race in order to get that golden plaque. This works just like that. Perhaps even more, because you will combine the power of imagination with the power of words. By writing a letter in the past tense using positive words about the amazing things we achieved in the upcoming year, we are already halfway there!
So, let’s get to it! Take some time to think about your intentions for 2014. Formulate them boldly, positively and describe the details.
It’s a great thing to do in your company or with your team too. It will create understanding and will enhance group cohesiveness. Part of the letter can be focussed on what you want to achieve as a team and in doing so it will create clearness in what you’re goals and dreams are and how to turn those dreams into reality.
