Megaweapon builds on Beam to elevate its web3 gaming experience

We are enormously excited to share that Megaweapon, the fast-paced top-down shooter, is building on Beam. With the game already in open beta, an experienced team and a full launch scheduled for later this year, Megaweapon is poised to hit the ground running. Here’s how incorporating Beam’s SDK will enhance the gaming experience for players.

A welcome new addition to the shooter genre

Anyone who considers themselves a gamer has tried a shooter. While there are many variations of the genre, the essence remains simple: pick up a weapon and try to take down your enemies. That’s exactly what gamers can expect of Megaweapon its familiarity means the game is easy to pick up, but mastering it requires dedication.

Observing proceedings from a top-down perspective, players see their character navigating an arena filled with obstacles, items, weapons and, of course, opponents. In its current open beta version, up to 16 players can enter the arena, either in free-for-all mode or as two teams battling for victory.

The game offers a wide variety of weapons. Some carry poisonous gas or other debuffs, ensuring battles remain thrilling to the end. Players can also collect components to craft a Megaweapon. Assembling these pieces unlocks game-changing abilities, allowing players to dominate as The Mech or swiftly strike as a Ninja Warrior.

Trade your assets safely and seamlessly

For the past two years, Megaweapon has been unwavering in its commitment to game development. While web3 elements will be meticulously integrated, they will never overshadow core gameplay. This philosophy aligns seamlessly with Beam’s ethos — making web3 enhancements available to those gamers that want them, without harming the gameplay experience for those that don’t.

Within the Beam network, Megaweapon is set to leverage a multitude of applications to further elevate their game. This begins with a broad spectrum of in-game assets that will make their way to the Beam network, including but not limited to the following:

• Player-designed characters
• Cosmetics
• Accessories
• Tradable assets
• Items, mods, and upgrades earned in PvE mode

The player will eventually have the choice either to combine items they’ve earned in-game to benefit their character’s capabilities directly, or to forge them into NFTs that can be auctioned off on the open marketplace. Player-to-player trades will leverage Beam’s integrated NFT marketplace, Sphere.

Upon the public availability of the game, Megaweapon will enable players and groups to host matches that require an entry fee to be paid in the $WEAPON token. This token will launch on the Avalanche network, and all transactions will be freely accessible for anyone to view ensuring fair and transparent gameplay.

Current state and planned milestones

Currently, Megaweapon operates in its open beta phase, welcoming players to test and engage with its features at no cost. This phase provides multiple game modes that can accommodate up to 16 players, including real participants or bots. The game is open for anyone to try through Hyperplay.xyz or direct download on Megaweapon’s website.

Looking ahead, Megaweapon shared a comprehensive general availability (GA) release set for Q4 of 2023. This release aims to introduce new facets to the game, such as Megaweapon Pro and expanded PvE gameplay. We’re thrilled to support Megaweapon in their endeavors and ensure a smooth transition onto the Beam network.
