Merit Circle collaborates with Big Time Studios to explore a cooperative RPG Universe through time
We are excited to reveal that we’ve partnered with Big Time Studios to bring the next wave of traditional gamers into the play-to-earn industry. Founded by gaming industry veterans, Big Time Studios is developing a fast-paced cooperative RPG. As part of our collaboration, we have acquired land plots for a total worth of $1,000,000.
What is Big Time?
Big Time Studios is the result of bringing a team of seasoned gaming development veterans together. Expanding on experience gained working with companies like Blizzard, Epic Games, Riot and EA, the team behind Big Time has seen it all working on Fortnite, Call of Duty, Overwatch and God of War. Having analyzed the current play-to-earn industry, identifying its flaws and opportunities, Big Time decided it wanted to create a Triple A play-to-earn game.
Big Time is a free-to-play, fast-paced cooperative action RPG that guides players, in groups of six, on a journey through time with historical battles and adventures to reach the final city where the greatest minds from history are gathered. Each player holds a personalized time machine allowing them to collect different valuable in-game items.
Fair & community-driven economy
Having carefully observed current play-to-earn economies, Big Time weighed the pros and cons and crafted a bespoke economy around the game. The essence is simple: defeat bosses and complete quests to earn in-game tokens. However, the way a player starts collecting tokens is quite unique.
In order to collect tokens, players need to acquire a rechargeable hourglass from a powerful being known as the ‘Time Keeper’. As they continue to play and earn tokens, they need to periodically visit their time keeper to replenish the sands of time in order to continue earning tokens.
The tokens will have powerful in-game utilities such as repairing damaged items, speeding up crafting times and allowing players to purchase exclusive cosmetic NFTs. This creates a cycle, which allows for continuous demand of the token.
Most notably, Big Time is determined to keep things fair by conducting a community driven token launch. This means that there will be no presale of tokens to anyone, including the development team. Anyone who wants to acquire tokens will have to do so by playing the game. This will level the playing field and lay a strong foundation for the self-sustaining market economy in the Big Time Universe.
Customization & expansion with NFTs
Within the Big Time Universe, a wide range of collectible items and assets await, starting with the time machine, which will be of vital importance in any battle a player might enter. SPACE NFTs are essential for when players wish to expand and upgrade their time machine. These NFTs will allow a player to expand a base layout and increase the size of their time machine. Different SPACE NFTs will unlock different features of their time machine and grant further utility to the Big Time token.
To give you an example, a Forge add-on NFT will allow a player to craft and repair special equipment used to battle enemies. Besides the SPACE NFTs, Big Time will also feature a vast array of ultra-rare cosmetic NFTs, which can be purchased using the in-game token. These cosmetic NFTs will allow players to create their own distinctive style and be tradeable for fiat or cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, USDC and more) using the Big Time marketplace.
All of these in-game assets will be freely tradeable on the Big Time marketplace that will be revealed in due course. Anyone who wishes to get their hands on a SPACE NFT should keep their eyes open for the public sale, which will take place in December.
Merit Circle x Big Time
When we were introduced to the team behind Big Time, we were taken aback by their level of experience and talent. As play-to-earn natives, we have been active in this space from the beginning but we have plenty to learn from seasoned gaming professionals. In a collaborative effort, we believe that working with Big Time will be another step towards bridging the gap between traditional and blockchain-based gaming.
We are really excited to be among the very first to enter the Big Time universe and prepare ourselves for the launch of the alpha version in early 2022.
