Sphere launches as first marketplace to integrate with Immutable zkEVM
It is a great honor to announce that Sphere has successfully integrated the Immutable zkEVM testnet and mainnet. As the very first marketplace to ever do so, we are incredibly excited to welcome the thousands of collections that are lined up to join the network.

A new chapter for Sphere
Up to this point, Sphere has served as the home to the Beam network and its collection. The games building on Beam have introduced their communities to our marketplace, leading to thousands of unique visitors since the first launch in January of this year. While Sphere’s profile to date has undoubtedly served a valuable purpose for this audience, the marketplace’s full potential had yet to be realized.
As we announced in early December 2023, the Beam ecosystem is integrating with Immutable and Polygon in various ways, one of which involves the enhancement of Sphere. We worked non-stop behind the scenes to lay the groundwork for this next stage in Sphere’s evolution — and once Immutable zkEVM launched its mainnet earlier this month, there was nothing stopping us.
This integration means that every single collection that goes live on the Immutable zkEVM mainnet or testnet will be available on the Sphere marketplace. There are hundreds of games confirmed to launch on the network, which is built in collaboration between Polygon and Immutable, and all are anticipated to launch a collection of gaming assets along with the games themselves.
Embracing the Immutable ecosystem
With the integration complete, when making your way through Sphere, you’ll notice the invitation to log in using the Immutable Passport. This passport is the gateway for many gamers into the realms of web3, and allows them to take ownership of their gaming assets into their own hands — possibly for the first time ever. With thousands of users already using this feature, we’re opening the gates to another group of users, all Immutable Passport users that is.
Moreover, Sphere integrates the Immutable Orderbook, which allows for more universal handling of gaming assets across marketplaces. In practice this means that the orders and assets on marketplaces that are available on the Immutable zkEVM will simultaneously be available on the Sphere marketplace and vice versa.
The only gaming marketplace you will ever need
As a marketplace, Sphere covers all the bases. First, it acts as an aggregator, presenting a huge range of assets from multiple games that users can search within and browse through — kind of a digital catalog. But Sphere also facilitates in-game marketplaces. Thanks to the Beam SDK, anyone who’s building a game has the ability to spin up a marketplace within the game, where players can buy, sell and trade their assets. It all happens under the hood, so it doesn’t disrupt the gamer’s experience, and Sphere collects fees on each transaction.
While this is still a future scenario right now, we are in talks with dozens of games about potentially building this kind of marketplace together. We are putting all of the pieces of the puzzle together, and it’s merely a matter of time before we see the results come to life.
