Rigged: Superdelegates and The Media

Let’s rewind to the Iowa caucus, the first primary of 2016.

Hillary narrowly beat Sander’s by less than 1% (.2% to be exact). Instead of the media running with headlines saying “Bernie almost upsets Clinton” or even, “Hillary narrowly defeats Bernie in Iowa”, instead they showed graphics of Hillary’s superdelegates (who don’t actually vote until July) vs Bernie’s and ran with headlines like, “Hillary Makes History” — effectively shaping the narrative that the race was over before it ever began.

See the image above for what CBS News showed that night where Hillary got 22 delegates and Bernie got 21. But according to the image, she has 384 delegates. Shameful.

John Dickerson, the host of CBS News said this that night:

“Clinton picked up 22 national convention delegates in Iowa. Sanders 21, but that’s a little misleading because Clinton already has 362 super delegates, party leaders who pledged their votes to her, that brings her now to 384 or about 16 percent of the 2,382 that she needs and after New Hampshire, the polls indicate the primaries are expected to break Clinton’s way.”

If this isn’t rigged, I’m not sure what is.
