If you think Mitch McConnell is going to give up on repeal, think again. He will spend the next couple of weeks twisting McCain’s arm out of its socket, and probably trying to change the minds of conservative Democrats like Joe Manchin and Heidi Heitkamp. He will ask them, “What can I change to get your vote?” I hope the answer is, “Go back to the traditional Senate process. Hold hearings, listen to expert witnesses, have a debate, write legislation in the light of day.”

And in the long run, Mitch may wait for McCain to resign or die, and then get the vote of the new Senator from Arizona.
