An experience worthy talking about…

It’s a beautiful morning,3rd of April, I head on to Andela. Its my first day in cohort 17 bootcamp. This is a place have been for once and this is my second time am finding myself there. Its after what they call an interview that am invited for learning clinic. Many thoughts are flowing in mind, questions about what really is andela are tormenting me.

I get into the compound thinking am the earliest bird in the area only to find out there are other earlier birds than myself. I met with faces familiar to me and on exchanging few chats, I realize that some are my friends we met while on campus.

The schedule for the day in andela is awesome; all of a sudden, we assemble on the open ground for some warm ups. This guy introduces himself and the only his name I remember is ‘Oti’. He tells us that we are gonna play a game “going on safari”. Am fumbled by this kind of game which has its own rules. After few rounds, am thrown out. I realize that its important to be keen. These warm ups leave me energized for the days activities.

Right in the clinic, I meet with this wonderful lady. She is Loice, one of the LFAs,don’t mind about the initials;Andela has its own vocabulary; I try to figure out where I met her first and for sure she is the one I know; she used to visit my wonderful first year roommate who happens to be her class-mate in campus. I get time to learn about her. The most interesting part of her story is her time schedule. She has no spare time. I just discover that time management is vital for everyone in this life.

Evans, This guy is awesome. From the way he talks down to what he says, all makes you understand what a world class developer looks like. The guy is a guru for sure.He walks us through TDD(Test Driven Development). I learn how to have peace of mind after working on code. The secret is on TDD. Am this guy who learns by doing, so starting practicing and withing few minutes,am up for writing tests.

To sum all up, I have learnt that to be excellent in whatever you do,one must have passion, belief in himself and be true to oneself
