Hello! How was your day? My name is Opeoluwa Mesonrale, I am your facilitator for next 4 Mondays in August 2019, to discuss on “Making your life count with 4Cs”. These 4Cs are courage, competent, capacity and character

My Story

A little about me. I am not the best of men but God’s grace and a learning heart have been my anchor. Schooled at Yaba College of Technology and Obafemi Awolowo University to study Mechanical Engineering. The desire to put my ideas into reality lead me to the world of Software Engineering. When I was OAU, it was like I was studying for two degrees. During the day, I am a mechanical engineering student, at night and during the holidays or strike I horn my skills in Software development. When I graduated, I had two good CV’s one for mechanical engineering Jobs and another for Software development jobs.

What I do

I am the lead software engineer at Tremendoc Limited a telemedicine startup. I am also interested in giving people a good head start in life. I run startups that have developed several solutions in the education sector and Fintech industry.

Why discuss 4Cs

It is a natural disposition for humans to follow the path of less resistance, this path does not bring out the best in us. You need no special effort or discipline or training to live life aimlessly. In the month of August, the leadership of this group is convinced that we need to be more aware of the importance of courage, competence, capacity, and character as an enabler in making our life count. I believe God to use this teaching to enlighten us all us, in Jesus name.

Four Topics in four Weeks

This teaching on 4cs is divided into four topics

Week 1: The Courage of a Son
Week 2: The Competent hand of a Maid
Week 3: The Capacity of a Mother
Week 4: The Character of a Father

This is week 1, so we will discuss “The Courage of a Son”

The Courage of a Son

Text: Gal: 4:1–2, 6
Now say, that the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all.

What is courage?

Courage is the ability to act in the presence of fear. It is your ability to be stable in the presence of daunting challenges and still act decisively.

Son of God

You have to face life challenges courageously as we enter into the fullness of Christ as a son. Only daughters and sons of God can work fully in the promises of God. God understands our fear and he is willing to see us through, but we need to trust him. Joshua 1:6

Killers of courage

Waiting for everything to be perfect before acting will hinder courageous deeds. The key driver for courage is that “Being decisive is more important than making the right choice”. If after reasonable facts have been presented you should take decisive steps based on the knowledge you have. When you attain better understanding and you discover that your initial decision was wrong, be quick to take another decisive action to rectify it.

Courage is not broad Chest

Courage is about being decisive based on the facts placed before you. It is not about having board chest and high taste for meaningless risk.

Courage and Knowledge

Another major driver of courage is knowledge. The less you know the more you will be afraid of making a decision. If you know how to kill a lion and you have the necessary tools to execute the process you will not be afraid if you see a lion suddenly.

Most of the things we feel we need courage to do is so because we are ignorant about that subject matter. When you seek knowledge it is cast out fears.

Read the situation Correctly

To be courageous does not necessarily mean one should be suicidal or throw away reason when we face challenging situations. Your ability to read a situation correctly is very important as you make a courageous decision. Sometimes courage means, run away, to live, so you can fight another day. This reminds me of this Yoruba proverb that says, “ A child that does not know how to handle cutlass can not ask who killed his father” This implies that timing is key.

Courage comes with little Progress

David was first, killer of wolves, Bears, Lions before he was courageous enough to face and defeat Goliath. If you want to close down big deals, first focus on how to close small business deals.

Increase Courage coefficient

When you experience balance or peace of mind, you tend to be more courageous. But if your mind is unstable or disturbed, you may lack the necessary energy needed to take courageous steps in life. To change a career or break a relationship, takes courage.

Who backs you up

Who and what backs you influence your courage coefficient. The word of God says all things work together for your good. This gives Christians assurance that no matter what happens God will turn it around for good. Your absolute faith in God’s ability to see you through life challenges makes you face life with hope, courage and strength.

Right counsel breed courage

Getting counsel on a matter helps you make a clearer decision especially when you are in a difficult situation. Don’t despise knowledge, your little brain can’t fathom all the answers to all the questions in your life.

Mentoring makes you sit on the shoulder of people and help make an intelligent decision and people will perceive you has been courageous.

Summary

In summary, when you are convinced about a matter, the next thing is to act base on the information at your disposition. This is what separates men from boys.

Thank you so much guys, we continue from here next time.
