Finally, Bitcoin network has locked-in to activate SegWit.
Now SegWit is inevitable and will activate in around 2 weeks.
Guys who made this possible are of course:
Authors of SegWit BIP141 SegWit : https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0141.mediawiki
Eric Lombrozo, Johnson Lau, Pieter Wuille
And by the UASF effort:
- ShaolinFry https://twitter.com/shaolinfry for creating the actual BIP148 and path (btc 1225p4Uv9dZpSZ8gt6q3WRUBZ3PUtXQYie)
(GPG key: 0x805300481F14DD8B)
And community building and distributing the binaries:
- https://bip148.org/ (btc 182q5NpvWT5d6BttkNoiGzMje7wSqQUUvk)
- https://bitcoinuasf.org/ (btc 3MYQaAQkn1gRyajHYiGvVxjwBprx5fouZQ)
And of course the over 1000 Bitcoin full Nodes servers and operators, who run the BIP148 nodes :)
Also, for the miners (even though they needed some economical convincing from the users they work for ;)
Was BIP148 an important part of getting miners to support SegWit?
As seen on this graph, for almost a year the miners rejected SegWit (95% of support was needed), and then they jumped on supporting it almost at last moment before UASF ultimatum of August 1.
