This week I won’t be writing much. The last few days have been hectic. Do not forget to check on the REDLINE kickstarter, we’re not too far from being able to make a new badass mecha-themed novella out of that game. But back to the topic — although I did not have much time to write, I wasn’t about to leave you without a build this week.

So, I bring you a simple one, but different enough from the others to warrant some attention. This is because the Phantom has little in the way of offense, but it has other strengths.

Built by Clan Wolf to help rebuild its military strength after the debacle at Tukayyid, the Phantom is a sort of an oddball in Clanner mech design. Although an OmniMech, which means that it can be adapted to any potential role, the major function of this machine is that of a barely-armed heavy scout.

That is because the weaponry of the baseline Phantom is almost non-existent. Instead, it sports a complete array of electronics, for defense and target detection. It is also incredibly fast, faster than most light Mechs, actually. This places it in the evolving doctrine of the clan. The Wolves have always used quick and hard-hitting machines, and the Phantom is a Mech that has the speed to work within this context, and the systems to support other, stronger units.

The model I bring you wears the colors of the Wolves-in-Exile, and uses 31 parts. A bargain for a machine that can run around spotting other troops and has the electronics to defend itself.

As stated above, do not forget to check on the REDLINE Kickstarter and Twitter announcement now that you are here.

This is a cool game and universe we love, and we hope you are as excited about it as we are.
