Warship Build 17 — Kyushu Frigate
Only this week did I notice that I only have one Kurita warship in this series. Decided to change that and add an escort-type vessel to join the capital goodness of the Kirishima.
Once I’m more ahead on this series I’ll probably make a few posts simply showing the complete fleets side by side. That should make for an interesting post.
The Kyushu itself was the first new warship developed by the Draconis Combine after the technological renaissance that followed the Clan Invasion. Based on the Robinson-class vessels from the Star League era, the Kyushu is relatively slow for its size but well-armed.
Its main appeal, though, is its vast cargo capacity. It can transport up to 108 battle-ready BattleMechs and many other war supplies. This is because this vessel was developed to support planet-wide campaigns and drop troops directly from orbit. It does have a secondary role as an escort for larger vessels, but that is its reason to exist.
Like prior designs, the cues for this one were taken from the Delranes Fighting Ships fan-made TRO.
Here shown in Combine colors, this model only takes 32 parts plus the base. It is simple and quite solid and should be a nice addition to your collection if you already have a Kirishima laying around.
