Introducing: Metatitans

Metatitans was created with the goal of building the world’s first professional esports team governed by a DAO. Our goal is to leverage the advantages of Web3 technologies to create an organization that empowers competitive gamers along with the community members that support them. The Metatitans Team will initially compete in Valorant esports with the goal of reaching the highest level of competition while simultaneously representing, bringing publicity and valuable opportunities (such as brand partnerships) to the Metatitans community.

The opportunity to create powerful organizations that are owned and operated by its community members has never been greater. With the increasing prominence of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs), members of communities now have the power to control the direction of the organization and have a vested interest in the success of the organization as a whole. Competitive teams would be nothing without the communities that support them, which is why we believe that a DAO is the perfect structure for the future of esports teams.

How Metatitans Will Be Structured

To initially kick off the formation of Metatitans, there will be an NFT drop of 10,000 NFTs in order to raise money for our future operations. Each NFT will serve as your access-pass to the community and after completion of our NFT sale, we will implement the DAO infrastructure necessary for members to begin making proposals and voting.

DAO members will be able to propose any and all of their ideas via a voting system. For example, we expect to see votes in regards to:

• Players/coaches/staff members we hire
• Competitions the team will participate in
• What kind of media we’ll create (promo videos, docuseries, etc)
• Brand partnerships and collaborations
• Future plans such as additional NFTs for holders of the initial collection or the introduction of a fan token
• And much more…

Upon completion of the DAO infrastructure setup, the Core Team will work with community members to prepare an initial proposal that outlines the plan for Phase 1. Phase 1 will include plans such as budgeting for team members (initial roster, head coach, nutritionist, etc.), potential locations for the official Metatitans gaming house, the initial budget for media creation, and more. If the initial proposal does not pass, we will return to working with community members to revise the plan and work towards a solution.

NFTs As a Crowdfunding Mechanism

We are choosing to do an NFT drop as our method of crowdfunding because of the abundance of benefits they provide for community members and the project as a whole. Given that esports is largely community-oriented, supporters of teams should have the opportunity for their voice to be heard and make a tangible impact on the organization. Below are some of the benefits of using NFTs for Metatitans:

• Enables decentralized voting for the DAO
• Enables ownership of the project for early investors
• Enables the DAO to benefit from the brand’s success through secondary sales royalties
• PFPs will function as identifiers of other community members/fans of the team
• Further utility for the future in P2E & Web3 gaming
• Publicity the team drives will be directed towards the NFT collection, esports tournaments get millions of viewers who will be introduced to our brand
• Allows for partnerships with enterprise brands and companies
• In case a fan token is created, allows distribution of the token to the community efficiently

The Future of Metatitans

While DAOs are extremely exciting for decentralized communities, they are still in the infant stages and it is up to communities like ours to push the boundaries and accelerate progress. The long term vision for Metatitans is to reimagine how esports organizations operate in order to provide better experiences and compensation for players, enable meaningful contributions from community members, and work together to reshape the industry as we know it.

Beyond competitive esports, we see a unique opportunity to take advantage of Web3 gaming, specifically Play-to-Earn (P2E) games. As economies begin to form on P2E games, players will no longer have to rely on outside sources of revenue in order to make money playing their favorite games. As P2E games become more prominent, we plan to form a P2E Guild within Metatitans that will provide players with support such as coaching and teammates in order to find success playing P2E games.

Tackling a large goal like this does not come without risk and experimentation. We strongly believe that our vision will help create a strong community of members who are willing to contribute to the success of the project. We are extremely excited for the launch of this community and look forward to seeing how far we will go together.
