I work from home with a team, albeit not programming. We work set hours and the rest of the time is free. Some people do not separate work from their free time very well when working from home, but others do well. Having no experience with Scrum, I cannot speak to how well that would work. Other organizations do quite well with having all workers on a team be remote.
