Monday Check-In

Friday I managed to forget to buy acetaminophen, but I did buy lunch and avocados and work snacks for $15.78. Then when I got home we made the meal plan and immediately headed BACK to the grocery store — so in my second Aldi trip of the day, I managed to buy more things(broccoli florets, chips, green onions, clearance Easter candy)but spend less, $9.53. Husband-elect also gave me a check to contribute to household bills, $250(but I’m not counting that in the weekend figures.)

Then on Saturday the stuff pickup got rescheduled til Sunday, so we went to the library(free! Yay public libraries!) and set out on a quest for safety glasses so I can use my Christmas-present Dremel. Quest was unsuccessful. Then I made the rub for the roast and put it on the grill, at which point I noticed that our grill’s burner support bars are getting visible-holes-in-them rusted, so I spent some time researching replacement grills before we ate. Then we watched The Big Short(Husband-elect rented it) and went to bed earlyish.

Yesterday, we went to the gym, then stopped at the grocery store AGAIN so Husband-elect could get tortillas for tacos. I found a one liter(!!) bottle of hot sauce and some cheese cracker things for $4.76. The estate sale yielded nothing(luckily it was close to our house) and the stuff pickup went smoothly. While Husband-elect was watching Nascar, I went to Big Lots in search of miniblinds for our kitchen window — one end of the top bar broke, and the blinds came untied from the other end, so they were looking really ragged. They didn’t have any blinds that worked, but they did have some Korean tissue masks, Polish sour cherry jam, and coconut sugar, plus less exotic things like laundry and dishwasher detergent, so I ended up spending $23.05. There’s a Roses next door, and they actually did have blinds that worked, so $10.65 there. Then I went home and used the last of my existing store of coconut sugar to make cheater Korean beef, which we ate while watching last week’s Walking Dead.

Predicted $30–55, Actual $63.77. Not tooooo awful!
