It’s also important to note that the tools to DO the DIY projects are themselves “stuff”. Having the right tool for the job is the difference between, say, an efficient, well-done home repair and trying to hammer a nail with a frying pan. Being able to hang a picture without wounding the cookware brings me joy, even if the hammer itself does not.
