Tonight, cleaning — We leave for Australia 3 weeks from tomorrow. I’ve started little-by-little gathering up things to pack, so I’ll keep that going and hopefully get some of the detritus of life cleared away. I need it clean enough that I’m not embarrassed for Husband-Elect’s cousin and a friend to stay at our house for a week each(we’ll be gone two weeks and cannot trust our goon squad of cats not to harm themselves or each other in that time.)
Tomorrow, there’s a festivally thing right in our neighborhood, so we’ll walk over to that in the morning and probably have some snacky things for lunch. $20, max. I want to go to my credit union and get set up with their online access system — they’ve changed it and my previous login no longer works, plus I want to ask about credit cards with no international fees so I don’t have to carry cash in Australia. Then tomorrow night a friend and I are going to Thrift Night Out hosted by a local fashion blogger, which offers dinner and a class that it claims it will teach me “the basics of thrift shopping and how to find things at the thrift store and how to replicate your favorite celebrity and Pinterest outfits” — which I know already, but it’s free and we might learn something from a woman who found a $5 Chanel purse, like where to get a $5 Chanel purse. I’m still on the lookout for an asymmetrical-zip moto jacket, but I’ve trawled the coat section of the thrift store this is hosted at and had no luck, so my guess is there won’t suddenly be such a thing there. I’ll estimate $15 in case I find some amazing something-or-other in the hands-on part of the class, but I figure it will end up less than that.
Sunday, I’ll talk to Mom(here’s hoping that her Mother’s Day flowers got delivered on Saturday as planned) and we’ll go to the gym, and then we will go over to Husband-elect’s mom’s for Mother’s Day dinner. We may actually be providing it — grandma had a mild heart attack two weeks ago and his mom has been doing the bulk of the caretaking, so I’ve asked if she’d like us to bring dinner over. If so, we have chicken, sausages, and potatoes available, so maybe either a buffalo chicken and potato casserole or baked potatoes and grilled sausages? Either of those + salad, since I still have three heads of romaine. Free, since we already have all the groceries for either.
Total: $35 — I feel like I’m not actually going to be able to get out of the weekend so cheaply, but fingers crossed!
