An Apology

Today I am ashamed of calling myself “Mexican,” of sharing a common heritage and culture with people who did this to this woman and attacked other Trump supporters in public, without provocation, without a valid reason, without any merit.
Despicable actions such as these are what erodes our liberties and turns all against each other in the name of politics, in the name of people who most of the time could not care less about what happens to those who support them.
To see these people claiming that the US belongs with such arrogance and righteousness actually makes me feel that there’s no turning back. I feel sorry for the American people who have to endure these attacks. I offer them, in the name of all rational Mexicans, a sincere apology for these despicable actions.
I hope that in the future law enforcement takes these matters more seriously, and people who resort to these actions are reviled and treated accordingly.
To all the Americans reading this: please remember that these people don’t represent the vast majority of Mexicans in the US and Mexico. They are but a very vocal minority who feels the United States owes them something, and as many others would do in conflicting political times as they feel their lifestyle or privileges they feel entitled to are at risk, they are acting without thinking of the unintended consequences of their actions.
Not all Mexicans, thank God, are like this.
