UI/UX in Plain English!

Hey there, fellow curious minds! Welcome to my cozy corner of the internet, where I will try to keep things chill and simple when it comes to UI/UX design. My name is Fahim. I’m just an average tech enthusiast with a spoonful of knowledge and experience in the UI/UX field. I love to break down the complexities of design into plain English.

This isn’t your usual jargon of what UI/UX is, with endless definitions and technicalities. No, no. Here, I’m sharing my understanding of why User Experience (Mainly software applications) interests me and what I’m passionate about. It’s about seeing beyond the pixels and understanding the human connection behind every click and swipe.

Think about it for a moment. Doesn’t it excite you just a bit to imagine being that magician, having that magical thinking to design the way exactly the user wanted it to be? (We try to at least :’) ) That’s the beauty of UI/UX design — it’s as if the app designers have a magic crystal ball to predict your every move, right?

Let’s look at this from a different angle. Remember the movie “Home Alone”? Picture young Kevin McCallister, the trap maker extraordinaire. As a child, I was captivated by how he meticulously planned for every possible scenario, anticipating the intruders’ moves and setting traps accordingly. At every turn, something was waiting for those two poor souls. Now, I’m not saying designing an app is like trap-making, to hurt or addict people to apps (Conspiracy theorists, please chill), but hear me out. The thinking pattern is somewhat similar — anticipating the intruders’ moves, actions and behaviours and setting traps accordingly.

So, why am I here sharing my thoughts on UI/UX, you ask? Well, for me, it’s all about the fun of it. You see, UI/UX design isn’t just about pixels and wireframes — for me, it’s about understanding user patterns, how people interact with technology in their everyday lives, and how I can predict their actions, problems, and requirements and find solutions to make their lives easy. And let’s face it, there are as many ways to look at UI/UX as there are people in the world.

In the upcoming articles (Yes, I am hoping to continue sharing my boring geek thoughts), I’ll be sharing more of my thoughts on related topics, from user research to design trends and everything in between. If you have some suggestions or topics you would like me to talk about in plain English, then please feel free to comment down below.

Alrighty, folks, that’s enough rambling for this one. I hope you enjoyed this little intro to the world of UI/UX in plain English. Until next time, happy thinking!

Cheers,
