
June 3, 2019 — the day the peaceful people of Sudan hoped to welcome democracy with open arms, armed with nothing but their will to stand for the future of their nation. Instead, they were greeted with gunfire and chaos from the same uniformed soldiers who had sworn to protect them. Tents burned, tear gas sprayed, the old and the young alike lashed and beaten for their courage. Others were spared from such tortures: they were simply shot dead. And this was just one fateful morning for the protesters.
