MB: Should Trump be blocked on Twitter?
ASO: Blocked by??? You mean not have a Twitter account?
MB: By Twitter. Think Milo.
ASO: No, because it is our only window into WTF is going on and he is creating evidence we need to convict him. Plus, it would make him a martyr/hero.
MB: Progressives are aware that they have been failing miserably at messaging. Which campaigns today in your mind are actually winning the messaging game?
ASO: 1. Fight for $15 is winning big time — not only because of making the goal (not the problem) the header but because the framing is “people who work for a living ought to earn a living” NOT “raising wages will grow the economy.”
2. Marriage equality, of course — but that’s old news.
3. Despite ALL the challenges — Black Lives Matter — as an affirmation, again, not a negation and a disruption of what was status quo narrative.
4. Pro public school campaigns — the conversation about charters is definitely shifting and tax measures for public ed are gaining major ground across the country.
5. Prop 30 “California Dream” campaign — aided, admittedly, by Gov. Brown doing the hell and brimstone messaging — so the coalition didn’t have to cover it.
