HOW READY IS AFRICA?

Humanity is constantly evolving over time. Things keep on happening beyond our mere understanding and as rightly sited by Fariborz Ghadar, the world we see today is in GLOBAL TECTONICS. Being able to live in it or win in it lies in a conscious understanding and adaptation to changing circumstances. Charles Darwin was right when he said “It is not the strongest or the most intelligent that survives but the most responsive to change”.

Responding to a stimulus doesn’t make you strong or weak. It is attributed to reactivity. That is the attribute and sole parameter responsible for the game changers in the midst of a Global Tectonic.

We all know Africa will not be the same in the next five to ten years. We know everything in the world over is dynamic but the single question is “How ready is Africa?”

Demographically and economically, Africa is continually plunging in to a state requiring heavy stationing and grounding. HIV infection rates are down 27% with malaria infections being less than 27% according to World Bank statistics. Number of 15 to 24 years in the continent continue to increase decade after decade with ever increasing life expectancy ratios. From a two trillion dollar economy today to a 29 trillion dollar economy in 50 years’ time, bigger than Europe and America combined as purported by Charles Robertson.

The initial foundations of African agricultural landscape has been shaky and it can concretely be levied an activity with misplaced priorities. No existing agricultural models, overall objectives and adequate infrastructure to upgrade and adapt the sector to the tectonic movements globally taking place has been a devastating effect caused by existing governance.

When Africa will own and control its AGRICULTURE, Africans will own and control a free AFRICA.

Africa has had the veil of failure for a long time and we have failed too long to fail again. All the mud the continent has been shot with can at a point like this be molded as bricks for a better foundation and a brighter future. That chance is now but amidst these debacles, the one question that still stands is HOW READY IS AFRICA?
