Swipe Labs is joining Uber!

It’s been 4 years since we started working on Swipe Labs. Addison and I met 5 years ago while working at Connect. We shared a passion for product, psychology, and the future. We began jamming on ideas and it was instantly clear that we thought the same way and that we had to work together. We were excited by the potential of connecting people in new and innovative ways.

We started Swipe Labs as a product studio with a mission to increase authenticity and intimacy in how humans share, interact, and communicate using technology. Our philosophy was to build one app a year until we get it right. Our first app, Tag was a way to privately share photos with a small groups of friends and chat in an intimate setting. It didn’t work out, and we used what we learned to build Swipe. Swipe caught on and instantly gained over a million users in a few weeks. We raised a series A, and began investing deeply in technology and building a world class team. Since then, we expanded our product line and built two more apps Channel, and Chitchat.

Four years later, we are happy to announce that a portion of the team will be joining Uber. At Uber, we will be focused on improving the driver experience within the driver earnings team. This is a very exciting time at Uber, and we can’t wait to use what we learned over the years and apply it at a very large scale to over a million people that drive for Uber every day.

We are very grateful for the support that everyone gave us over the years. Crafting all these products has been one of the most exciting experiences in our lives. We appreciate every moment we had, and hope to continue building many amazing products in the future.
