I cast a much wider net. I follow any developer-ish person within pretty much an 8-hour drive radius of Columbus (give or take), plus some other choice accounts (like Hanselman, Haack, etc), plus a small selection of fun/nondev accounts (RiffTrax, politicalmath, 70s scifi art, etc). Right now, that’s 2300+ accounts. Twitter bankruptcy is continual, I accepted that a long time ago.

I also have a twitter list called “VIP” which is my can’t-miss list of people I want to see every tweet from. It’s 104 right now.

I use the web, Twitter Android app, and Plume for Android. Viewing lists in web/official Android is not a good experience, so that’s what I rely on Plume for right now.

I also monitor “couchbase” search results as part of my job. Separate tab in Chrome. Sometimes I’ll monitor conference search terms like “codemash” or “stirtrek” during the appropriate times of year.

DM notifications on, every other notification off. I check mentions whenever.
