One of the many things I really appreciated about Paul is that he and I never had any down period in our friendship. Even in the height of the tension between Real and Microsoft (when Real sued Microsoft for violating antitrust law, a suit we would eventually settle for $760 Million) Paul and I stayed friends. Paul and I were careful not to talk much about the lawsuit (at the time he was the 2nd largest shareholder in Microsoft and I believe he was still on the board), but I truly appreciated that Paul didn’t allow it to get in the way of our friendship.
