My sense is that this is just as much about what happens as markets and ecosystems mature. Though I do think the trend is more pronounced in technology because we’re used to such a fast rate of change. As that rate slows (or even just appears to slow), the rate at which we buy new things may slow. Feels like a pretty natural outcome. But if it were a larger movement happening — if younger generations want less stuff, for example — that would indeed be interesting.
