I am 19 years old and attend the University of Texas. I dont claim to be an expert but I wanted to provide a perspective from a teenager’s viewpoint. I wrote a letter to President Obama during his lame duck period. I didn't expect a response nor action. But I hoped for a positive change. And, after learning about the result Friday morning, I am confident that a common man can certainly make a difference. The purpose of this article is to express my appreciation for social media platforms, promote the power of blogging/vlogging, and illustrate the strength of sheer will, through pen or voice.

My Letter to President Obama and his response:

Past Friday morning, Nawaz Sharif was removed from office due to the final verdict from the Supreme Court of Pakistan! This is a step closer to strengthening democracy in a 3rd world country. If we as a global citizen uplift societies around us; we can be a step closer to the eradication of marginalization. And radicalization is tied to marginalization. Nations don’t fall by war, earthquakes, and intimidation. They fall when its institutions are completely destroyed. When they internally become lost. My hope & vision is to tackle issues we face as a global citizen. Corrupt officials like Nawaz Sharif enhance terrorism, weaken institutions that are the backbone of democracy. It is the American spirit that reassures me, people united can never be divided. Let us stand together against world issues we face as a global community.

I want to express my appreciation to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). They have played an integral part in exposing the corruption of world leaders across the globe through the Panama Papers. In today’s digital age, social media has given a common person a voice. I believe we all should use our voice in advancing issues that matter to us.

Thank you for reading. I hope you will advance your issues forward as well.
