As I brainstormed ideas for how to develop my archive, I knew I had to include my mother’s voice in some form. Besides the immeasurable impact she has had on my love for reading, I also consider her somewhat of an expert in the field of literature. She has been a teacher longer than I’ve been alive, and her ability to deeply understand every novel she reads has always amazed me. I am so happy to share this incredibly informal, yet delightfully informative “podcast” episode with my mother, in which we discuss both teaching and reading banned books, as well as a childhood filled with reading.

P.S. The book we couldn’t remember the title of was You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins :)
