Challenging Common Conceptions: “Linkzr Is The Best Counter-Sniper”
A Statistical Analysis
If you’ve watched the Houston Outlaws play, chances are that you’ve heard this phrase. I first noticed this opinion being given by Overwatch League Caster Robert “hexagrams” Kirkbride, and since then it has spread to the point of being mentioned by many of the on-screen talent almost any time that Linkzr takes up the sniper rifle.
But is it true?
My goal for today is to find out.
The Methodology
For this test, we will be limiting the data to players who have at least one hour of playtime on Widowmaker in the Overwatch League, through nine weeks of play. That includes (in order of playtime): Babybay, Linkzr, Birdring, Fleta, Undead, Carpe, Kariv, Dreamkazper, Logix, Saebyeolbe, Soon, Effect, Pine, Surefour, Tviq, and Taimou - 16 players in total.
We will then compare them in a variety of metrics, thanks to the incredible data provided by Winston’s Lab. All data will be specific to Widowmaker versus Widowmaker encounters.
