In the Star Wars universe there are many different lightsabers, all with different colored Kyber crystal which gives the lightsaber its color. The Jedi are the wielders consisting of varying lightsaber colors. The color of the lightsaber corresponds to the fighting style of the Jedi. For example the green blade is used by the Jedi who believe in negotiations rather than physical combat, and are more in tune with the spiritual side of the force, for example Yoda, and Qui-Gon Jin. The blue lightsaber are for the Jedi who are more skilled in lightsaber combat than in negotiations, such as Anakin Skywalker, and Obi-wan Kenobi. Mace Windu was the wielder of a purple lightsaber, the purple lightsaber is not used by many Jedi for good reason. The only Jedi who use a purple blade are those Jedi who study the ways of the Dark Side but don’t succumb to it. Along with these colors there are others that few Jedi have wielded, such as gold or even white.

Some of the lightsaber colors

The Sith are users of only one color lightsaber; the red lightsaber. The red kyber crystal is not a naturally formed crystal unlike blue, green or purple, instead it is a synthetic crystal, used from a natural kyber crystal but manipulated to turn to the color red, and can sometimes become unstable. Kylo Ren is a user of an unstable red kyber crystal as seen in Star Wars the Force Awakens.
