My friend does not call attention to my body, does not explain her actions, and does not expect accolades for her understanding. She simply noticed, took action, and saved me the hot and blinding spotlight of advocating for my aberrant body, if only for one evening.

When we reflect back what another person is telling us, it shows them that we care and that we’re listening carefully.
