The Brand: Nike

One of the most recognizable and influential brands to date, Nike revolutionized the idea of being an athlete. The iconic swoosh logo paired alongside its tagline “Just Do It” is instantly recalled by consumers. A huge part of the Nike brand identity is athleticism, individualism and representation. There isn’t a huge push for a specific gender identification, race, age, etc. just the idea of being the best you can be as an athlete.

According to Nike’s about us page on its website, the purpose of the brand is “to unite the world through sport to create a healthy planet, active communities and an equal playing field for all,” (Nike). The brand has a history of pairing with notable athletes like Serena Williams, Tiger Woods, Derek Jeter, and more. Having an all-star athlete as an influencer and even spokesperson is something that Nike is known for, and pairing with an athlete like Simone Biles would be right up the brand’s alley.

The Influencer: Simone Biles

Five-time World all-around champion, 2016 Olympic gold medalist, and the most decorated gymnast in history are all titles that are held by Simone Biles. A coveted athlete, Simone is known worldwide for her unmatched strength and skill as a gymnast. She continues to steal the hearts of those who watch her while dominating her sport. At only age 22, Simone has changed gymnastics as a whole and continues to defy and exceed all expectations of competitors, teammates and fans.

Simone would be an incredible choice for Nike as an influencer, and even spokesperson. Her maturity, determination and athleticism align perfectly with what the Nike brand stands for.

Her dedication to pushing the boundaries of what is possible on different apparatuses of gymnastics embodies Nike’s “Just Do It” tagline. Her character inspires others, just like Nike, and this pairing would be a match made in heaven.
