Update 006: Gamescom and the Millennials Are Your New Favourite Band
Starting with the most important people. Our community!
Special thank you to those of you who contacted me directly. I love honest and direct feedback. Let’s start with the ones we are addressing personally. Samantha C-G who asked that we stop contacting her [she wasn’t supposed to be getting these updates]. Silvia J’s kind words, Jose L.G.M.’s recommendation to see the movie La Cabana and inspiring stories, Anders for his insights into issues we need to fix — and are addressing now, Jean Y.D who needs the updates in French, Becka C for her note and John T. re ‘exciting progress!’
Last week was spent in Cologne, Germany for the Game Developers Conference. For those not familiar with the event, it is the biggest game conference in the West. Imagine a few hundred thousand gamers descending on Cologne. Pure passion and the world’s biggest franchises on display!
The reason for attending is simple. Gamers ‘get’ crypto, as gamers have had virtual currency in games for 20 years. Gamers also ‘get’ ICOs, as they are a twist on the old crowdfunding model. Gamers are more likely to invest in crypto than buy a home or any other investment type.

BDXChange
Blockchain and crypto are disrupting the game space across new titles and platforms. Steam, the world’s biggest PC Gaming Platform is facing blockchain newcomers who want to upset the status quo. Those are the companies I met with about listing their token on our BDXChange, as gamers are more likely to invest in and believe in blockchain and crypto.
BDXWallet
Other ideas we discussed included how to integrate crypto and mobile experiences into traditional retail experiences. Retailers want door swings. Consumers want convenience. Brands want to expand their footprint. We have some cool ideas on how to combine crypto and gaming in a way that accomplishes these goals.
Millennials
Millennials expect different experiences than their parents. They consume media predominantly on mobile. As the first generation who grew up with smart devices, they want what they want, when they want it. No excuses. I can relate completely. I send more than 85% of my work emails from my mobile. Our Team has the majority of our work on Slack. I prefer messaging apps to email for burst communication. 100% of my news comes from apps. My music collection is online. My television viewership precludes TV services and is 100% online [Netflix, Hulu, HBONow, iTunes etc]. My favorite past-time of playing video games is online, typically multiplayer, with my friends from around the world. To attend GDC and catch up with the people making the world’s biggest games is a privilege. All of them have an interest in, and curiosity about, how blockchain can reinvent their businesses.

New Business Model
The BDXAlliance was created to solve problems for anyone in this space. It was created to solve the problems I faced trying to launch a blockchain company. What was a complete surprise to me was how we can solve problems for other industries, like Competitive Gaming. In short, competitive gaming is two gamers betting against each other. The outcome is based on skill and not luck. The interoperability of BDXCoin creates new ways to do business.
Goals from GDC
My goal was to not commit to any more deals for the near-term. As I have communicated, we are flat out on our current projects, and want to make sure we deliver. For those of you not familiar with the BDX Family, we have a very strong focus on our culture. Authentic. Fun. Passionate. My role as the CEO is to ensure we always protect who and what we are, as these differences are what makes us who we are. We are all philosophically driven and the energy in the Team is super cool. The reason I share this is because I told the team I wouldn’t close any more deals. IF we are to take on anything new — THEY must decide as a Team. It wouldn’t be me pushing work onto them. With that in mind, we saw some really cool blockchain concepts for game design. Experienced teams. Verifiable accomplishments. The Team saw a game demo for a blockchain game that is really cool. They are currently reviewing our bandwidth. IF we can scale up, it will be their decision — not mine — to take on this project. Stay tuned for that decision.

Meet Luciano Nonnis | One of the 3-Avengers of Crypto
Professional Crypto Coach, Luciano has literally helped investors learn to invest and live off a crypto life. He, Mario [whom you met last week] and Lukas [who you will meet next week] are the brains behind our BDXSexy Crypto education. Luciano has joined the team to help us identify the best features of existing platforms and identify what the future looks like. Additionally, when I took over, I knew we needed to make changes to our token economy. With experts like the 3-Avengers, I can be confident that I am making the right decisions for the company and investors.

Meet Michael Michaelides | Social Marketing on Steroids
Michael has plans to travel the world, but before he does, he is driving how we communicate via social media channels. I have always preferred social media as it always felt more authentic than a commercial or banner ad. Michael takes the authenticity we believe in as a Team and makes it come through in fun ways. With a prior background in a marketing agency in London, he is also the proud Editor of this weekly newsletter.
ICO Status
No Change. On schedule for Q4.
BDXAlliance Messaging
My last few weeks in this job has emphasized to me the importance of clear and concise messaging. I like to tell stories and enjoy the unique attributes of people and life — and none of my natural traits lead to brevity! We need to boil down the BDXAlliance into a message anyone can share easily. That is our challenge for the White Paper [I prefer Fun Paper, but no one agrees]. How to communicate a beautiful ecosystem — simply. The quest continues.
