Trump Doesn’t Want to Win
Let’s face it, the best case scenario for Donald Trump at this point is to lose a close election, blame the media and make another billion dollars by starting Trump TV. There he can promote the endless cycle of his children’s political campaigns that are inevitably coming. Why else would he be giving away this golden opportunity to be Commander in Chief?
A 5–1 underdog when the GOP primary began, Trump smoked Chris Christie and Marco Rubio who were praised as future stars of the Republican establishment. He made Jeb Bush look like a kid who just got stuffed into a locker by the school bully and when he was one-on-one with the other outsider Ted Cruz, Trump steam rolled him to the finish line gaining the most votes in Republican primary history.
What Trump has shockingly not done so far is pivot. He has stuck to the same bullish tone and combative rhetoric that seemed like leadership potential when he shared a stage with his meek primary opponents. Where is Trump the builder ? Why is he not in a hard hat discussing specifics with foremen on job sites instead of continually putting his foot in his mouth every time he is in front of a microphone ?
If he is claiming he will be “The greatest jobs President God ever created” why is he not giving the American people the visual of himself next to bridges and tunnels while he recites simple, scripted lines of how he is going to build this country back up the old fashion way; with hard work.
For a split second during the first debate Trump spoke of how the quality of America’s airports are slacking compared to other countries and how our schools and roads are old and falling apart. It was a quick glimpse at what Trump’s campaign endless battle cry should be. Instead, Trump couldn’t help himself and tugged at every piece of bait the calm, and well-prepared Secretary Clinton tossed in front of him, making him look like the student that simply did not study enough for the test.
Trump’s answer every time he is asked a question regarding a shady business deal or a mishap in his entertainment career should be, “ Until 16 months ago I was a private citizen and made some mistakes. But I worked tirelessly to grow my brand to make as much money for my family as possible and I will take that same determination into the White House.” Instead, its more and more ethnically charged prose and tabloid ‘he said, she said’ nonsense.
But honestly for a 70 year-old man worth a few billion dollars, does the brutal commitment of being leader of the free world sound inviting? Wouldn’t you just rather reinvest your brand into the next generation while sharing endless hot-takes on-air with your new media empire? The scary thing is Trump is still in a position where he could win the election, but business is business and losing this election is good for business.
