Time to kill the processes and empower your team.. or vice versa

I always like to share my experience what I did and my thought process, and not just repeating what everyone is saying in leadership 101.

Processes can be a wonderful thing, no doubt, but not always needed.

The question is when we really need it and how to defuse it when no longer required.

Processes undoubtedly serve a purpose — they provide structure, ensure consistency, and mitigate risks in certain contexts. For instance, in the industries I served, where safety and compliance are paramount, e.g. ISO, adherence to standardized procedures can be non-negotiable. It helps us to gain trust from customers and partners, being the leader to uphold our quality statements and stay ahead of the game, and be part of the game.

However, the danger arises when processes are indiscriminately applied across all facets of organizational operations, stifling innovation and impeding adaptability.

Why setup the processes?

Some processes were setup when we go into manufacutring when safety and quaity is the utmost importance aspects. Some processes were setup when we were bidding for a project, that we need to pull various teams together in order to faciliate and smoothen the communications between teams. Some processes were…
