prismic.io vs. WordPress

This is very misleading (just use WP)

First, these apps are not the same and really should not be compared in this way. WordPress is a complete open-source CMS and website solution with an API. Prismic is just a proprietary CMS and API. I’m not sure Medium is supposed to be used for misleading advertisements. Maybe just focus on what Prismic does.

With WordPress you can do the following:

  1. Host it anywhere, cheap, moderate, or expensive (godaddy, Pantheon, Amazon, etc.)
  2. Choose from thousands of free and paid frontend themes
  3. Add and remove features when you want
  4. Convert it into an e-commerce site with free and paid plugins
  5. Extend your content using the WP-API to other sites and apps (this is what Prismic does)
  6. Hire a developer to customize your site if you want
  7. Get support from the largest open-source community online

While Prismic has a nice content editing UI it’s missing everything else including:

  1. No frontend site (just data, you still have to build a website)
  2. No real e-commerce support
  3. Performance of your site is limited to Prismic’s performance
  4. Can’t add new features (you have to wait on Prismic)
