Who Would Actually Go to Westworld?

I completely disagree with this article’s argument for a multitude of reasons.

For starters, in the show’s futuristic setting, who is to say that Androids/robots living amongst humans has not become a societal norm. The difference with the Android’s in Westworld’s park of course being how life like and seemingly multi layered to the one’s outside the park.

However, even if Androids/robots are not fabrics of this futuristic human society, who is to say that man would have shame to do whatever they want do to a robot. Slave owners in the Americas in the 16th to 19th century and in the time of Ancient Rome and Greece had no shame in how they treated their human property. If people were willing to do that with real human lives at stake for hundreds of years, you think people would care about Androids specifically designed for the entertainment of park guests? I sure as hell don’t. Furthermore, where is it mentioned that Westworld is connected to the Internet thus making it possible to hack?

Finally, the moral dilemma. Is it a little disturbing that someone would do some of the things that the Man in Black is doing? Sure it is. But in the context of where he is and what Westworld is designed to provide it is no different than a 13-year-old turning the cheat codes on in GTA 5 (or for better comparison, Red Dead Redemption) and going on a rampage. Ed Harris’s character simply has a more advanced medium to rampage in.
