NBC always seems to be 4 years behind the times with its Olympics coverage. Remember 2000? Because of the time difference with Sydney, most events were held the morning hours of the USA. Thus Americans knew the results 12–14 hours before NBC got around to broadcasting thereby draining any drama from the events. Rating tumbled as the game went along so NBC had to stuff a bunch of extra make up commercials to advertisers. By the end there were something like 24 minutes of ads per hour.
