Unfortunately a lot gets conflated in this piece. If it was just asking for a Trigger Warning then there’d be little controversy. The trouble comes when someone demands certain books, articles, films be banned from classrooms because of their own personal trauma. This gets lumped in with those who shout down campus forums, or get others dis-invited as commencement speakers(or in the case of San Jose, actually attack people at a political really.)

I do feel enormous empathy for victims who still haven’t worked thru their trauma, but they should focus upon continue on with their healing work rather than use that energy to silence everyone else.
