Who’s leading your life?
I had lunch with a friend who I have know since school. We’ve been mates for 34 years. So I like spangles and Rhubarb and Custard (sweets and kids TV show). How old!?
Point is that he’s a smart guy. He’s a triathlete – I always had the frame for it but he had the discipline! He’s had great Learning and Development roles in global companies. He’s good at what he does. But he’s always fancied working overseas. He’s a family man and the timing has never been right. So he’s waited. Fab news is that he and the family are headed to Dubai.
So lunch before he leaves. I found myself saying to him “so you’re leading your life, rather than your life leading you!”
That sounded profound so I must have heard it somewhere else. I can’t have come up with it myself. Who cares…it made me ask myself that same question “am I leading my life or is my life leading me?”
I’m pretty much in charge of my life. I’m building a business that I love with a passion and I work with brilliant and brave people.
