Boulevard Park Negative Review

Boulevard Park is always highly populated on a sunny day. However, does this this mean that the park should be considered a good park? As a college kid who likes to go out and explore Boulevard Park does not excite me. The main problem I have with Boulevard Park is that it is manufactured.

I like going into the woods and going on hikes to explore. At Boulevard Park I do not have much room to move around and do different things. Most people I talk to like to go to the park because they enjoy the boardwalk area. I do not see what is so special about the boardwalk and I would much rather walk on a coastline beach. The boardwalk just does not fit into the scenery it sticks out and is ugly. Sure it is cool that it is the only park around with a long boardwalk, but who really cares when I can go to any beach in the area and get right down on the water.

The Woods Coffee shop at Boulevard Park is just wrong. If I am going to the park, I am going to get outside and exercise. If I want coffee I go to a coffee shop not a park, Boulevard Park should stick to trying to be a park, not a business. The coffee shop is not an asset to the park, it is there to suck the money out of the pockets of park visitors. It would be annoying to have something like that at a park because I know as a kid I would have been constantly bothering my parents to let me get something for the shop.

There just is not that much to do at Boulevard Park with it mainly being made for runners and joggers (source 2). Yeah it is cool to sit there and watch the sunset, but what activity can I actually do at Boulevard Park besides walking? I can have a barbecue or have a picnic, but if you’re like me and into sports Boulevard Park will not suffice your needs. This is a problem because I would like to be able to go to the park and shoot some hoops with my friends or play catch with my Dad. It is very hard to do this at Boulevard Park because the people who made the park decided it was more important to build a useless boardwalk area and not built something fun like a basketball courts. There are also way too many runners or walkers in the area to throw a baseball or football around. I feel as though I have to be too careful when I am throwing a ball around at Boulevard Park.

Yes, Boulevard Park is in a beautiful location as shown in the picture below, but it was not made in a productive way. The park makers did not plan out correctly where to spend money on the park. The boardwalk as shown in the picture below is boring and fails to set Boulevard Park apart from other parks in the area.
