Whoever said “life begins at forty” was a liar. When I hear that phrase, I picture a person living it up, enjoying an abundance of disposable income with a nice big house…but that’s not how my life turned out. In fact, it’s pretty much the opposite.

I was dumped on my fortieth birthday by my fiancée, Amanda. She said (in so many words) that I needed to grow up…or get serious, or something like that; I can’t remember exactly how she said it, but it was a kick right where the sun doesn’t shine if you know what I mean…
