A friend and I recently had a lengthy discussion on this exact subject. One of his main points is that he believes many other countries are doing much more to address the potential threat.
My question to him was: what else can be done that’s not already being done. We have all sorts of sensors detecting all sorts of signals. We have serious limitations in sending probes due to the length of time it takes physical objects to travel such distances.
We can interview people making claims of knowledge, but the results are unlikely to produce much actionable intelligence.
When we demand that more be done, what is the demand? What do we want to see these intelligence agencies do?
