This is a ridiculous situation and a dangerous one. The GOP agenda is to mock, ridicule and otherwise demonize ANYTHING the other side does or attempts to do, regardless of what the right thing to do is. Their agenda has nothing to do with the “common man” or middle class, as it were. That’s the primary reason my entire family left the republican party, they have become the party of the wealthy, unapologetically so. At first their arguments seemed plausible, relaxing certain regulations to allow companies to breath would/should spur businesses to prosper. Fast forward several years to the present day and you find businesses sheltering their taxes overseas to the tune of Trillions of dollars (Yes, that’s Trillion with a T) with Inversion mergers, the usual tax shelters and whatever creative ways they can get their lackeys in congress to enact for them. In the 1950s corporations paid enough in taxes to make up for 28 percent of the taxes collected in this country, today that is less than 8 percent. The difference, of course, is picked up by the middle class. Corporations are paying less and we are paying more, that’s a fact. My father called them “The party of @#$% you!”, and if he were alive to see what they are doing to the EPA he’d never stop swearing. Make no mistake about it, regardless of what that bearded twit Grover Norquist would have you believe taxes are an essential part of an intelligent and prosperous society when collected properly and fairly. The republicans are just laying to waste ANYTHING the Democrats have put together, just because. Thirty years ago I would never have thought that the GOP would become this petty and low class. I usually don’t address trolls in all their unsplendid glory but to assert that the GOP had to undo Obama’s Executive signings because he subverted the usual path of legislation is a very bogus claim indeed. Considering what GWB did with them makes that argument laughable to the extreme.
