Is being mindful ultimately more positive than being disruptive?

Disruption seems to be the battle cry of our times.

The word is everywhere…on magazine covers, book titles, the subject of podcasts…all over social media…

It makes me feel if I’m not being disruptive, I’m not on trend, somehow at a disadvantage, not considered to be part of the ‘where it’s at’ tribe.

Is it just another word commandeered by marketing machines to call attention to a progressive attitude…the new ‘where it’s at’?

I reminded myself that civilization has been around for about 8000 years, and has progressed very nicely without calling attention to itself too often.

Make it your choice…

Disruption in its modern usage isn’t a bad word, or even a bad attitude…perhaps it’s a reminder that change is important for progress.

With the world at a crossroads, having decisions made for us, it’s no wonder I yearn to go back to a more familiar status quo.

Foster new ideas…

More than ever, I believe we need time for reflection, to be mindful, to grasp the significance of where we find ourselves.

We also need to be more mindful of consequences. Every action has one…consider them carefully before making decisions.

Breath life into creativity…foster new ideas, keep asking ‘why’, it’s the seedbed of innovation, it’s the way to a better future.

One of the best definitions of innovation I’ve ever heard is…it solves problems people didn’t know existed.

Action is vital…

Our biggest obstacle is not taking action…nothing happens until we send a message, or an email, pick up the phone, write a blog, or write a letter even.

Talk to people, ask them what’s on there mind…what’s not working.

Be a doer…

Things haven’t always gone my way…doors have closed, I’ve hit the wall, suffered disappointment, loss…but all of these have made me more resourceful, more determined to do, to be something better.

The future can be changed…it starts in this moment…

Be mindful…
