Boy are you lost in the weeds. It isn’t the mechanics, the psychology or the tactics of journalists that is at fault. It is the fact that journalism is not being practiced at all. A fair, objective view of the facts and how they affect different segments of the population would be the total solution you seek. Journalism itself would cure the entire country’s ills if it were allowed to assert itself.
But corporations have no use for good journalism. They have no use for careful, bipartisan analysis of the US education system, the US economy, or US politics. They have only profits in mind and they own the entirety of mass communication in the US. Thus Oprah. Hope this helps.
