So now I’m writing another lengthy letter, feeling a growing heat where that little kid who always dreamed of helping others still lives.
An Open Letter To You

Excellent follow-up, Talia, and as others have said, kudos for choosing this option of the many options available to you.

I’m not sure my 2 cents is going to help in the short term, but hopefully you will keep it in the back of your mind as you plan your longer term future.

All of our ‘systems’ are broken: government, education, healthcare and — as you’re discovering — the workplace. This is a huge topic, but the short answer for why this is, is most easily answered with an analogy:

The pendulum swing from Renaissance to Industrial Revolution and back

A giant pendulum swings from right (feminine energy) to left (masculine energy). It reached its right peak in 1500 at the height of the Renaissance and its left peak in 1800 at the height of the Industrial Revolution. It reached its lowest point on 21 December 2012 — the end of the Mayan calendar. This is also the point at which the pendulum swings fastest — ever noticed how time seems to be so scarce these days?

Our systems are broken because they were designed for an age of mechanization and they’re not transitioning quickly enough to cope with the inexorable march towards a world dominated by feminine energy.

To the extent that this resonates with you, seek out an employer that groks this. I’ve written a post that explains this in a little more detail — I hope it helps, and all the best in your journey!
