Should You Take Vitamin D?

Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin, and one that very few foods naturally contain. I often wonder whether I should take a supplement. I do not have the optimal profile for good absorption from the sun, being African-American, older than fifty years of age, and an indoor worker. But is there evidence that I need to take vitamin D?
